Roxlee and Tado will do a film lecture in a cooking show set up. FILM TOQUE is the closing forum for Pelikusina: A menu of photography, film and video. With eight cameras hanging, from the 8mm to the minidv's, maverick filmmaker, Roxlee, and indie favorite, Tado, will explain the history and evolution of the camera.
Aside from Film Toque, it will also be the culmination of Cinepares: A comparative film festival which screens 20th and 21st century films, highlighting its parallels and differences and reminding us of the "continuity of cinematic past and present". Closing films would be 35mm Man (2007) by the Icon of Philippine Underground Cinema: Roxlee.
35 mm Man is about a man wrapped in 33 mm film negatives promoting very commercial cinemas vs. digital cinemas and advocating independent digital movies. It is also the last film starring Elmo Reodico, one of the most prominent actors in the indie scene.
Film Toque, Biglang Yaman and 35mm Man will be shown on Friday, Feb. 23 at the Kamera Obskura gallery, NCCA, Intramuros, Manila. Screening starts at 1:30PM. Free admission. For more details, contact Kristine at 0927-9799193
