ROME AND JULIET returns to Indiesine
ROME & JULIET Makes a Return Engagement in Galleria
starting March 7
After its sensational Valentine's week box office
performance, Cinema One Originals' ROME & JULIET gets
an encore theatrical run starting March 7 at the
Robinsons Galleria's Indie Sine Theater.
Starring the daring Mylene Dizon and Andrea del
Rosario, Rome & Juliet was one of the seven chosen
entries in last year's Cinema One Originals Digital
Movie Festival. It also stars Rafael Rosell, Mico
Palanca, Liza Dino, Glydel Mercado and featuring Ms.
Tessie Tomas. The film garnered both acclaim and talks
of controversy for its intriguing plotline which
involved themes of lesbianism.
This digital movie directed by Connie S.A. Macatuno
revolves around the idea that love knows no rules.
When Juliet (Andrea del Rosario), a conservative
pre-school teacher hires Rome (Mylene Dizon), a
liberated wedding planner, for her nuptials, they
become close and develop a romance that becomes a huge
scandal after Juliet's groom (the sexy Rafael Rosell)
and their families discover their affair. Not long
after, Juliet is driven away by her parents and gets
into an accident that puts her in a coma. Tracing the
reasons and depths why two women fell unexpectedly in
love make Rome & Juliet a romance that is both
touching and thought-provoking.
Mylene Dizon won a much-deserved Best Actress trophy
in the Cinema One Originals Digital Movie Festival and
Competition held last November. Co-star Andrea Del Rosario also
impressed movie watchers and observers and was nominated for Best
Actress at the Golden Screen Awards. The movie also got major
category nominations in the upcoming 2007 Star Awards for Movies such
as Movie Actress of the Year for Andrea del Rosario,Movie Director of
the Year for Connie S.A. Macatuno, and Digital Movie of the Year.
Its first successful two-week theatrical run at
Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Metro East and at
Robinsons Place Ermita Manila precipitated this return
theatrical engagement showing at the Robinsons Galleria.
Rome & Juliet returns to Robinsons Galleria starting March 7. Rome &
Juliet was produced by Creative Programs, Inc. (CPI) through its
annual Cinema One Originals project. Rome & Juliet will also be shown
in Iloilo and Bacolod after its theatrical run in Robinsons Galleria

IMAHE NASYON screening
IMAHE NASYON WILL HAVE ITS REGULAR RUN ON
FEB.21-27 AT THE indieSINE ROBINSON'S GALLERIA
view trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j4Oinb8dAY
"WHAT HAPPENED AFTER 1986?"
20 YEARS. 20 FILMS. 20 FILMMAKERS. 1 NATION.
IMAHE NASYON… a groundbreaking, conceptual omnibus film by 20
alternative filmmakers who were tasked to present their personal
visions on national issues. It is underlined by a conceptual question
asked by line producers Jon Red & Carol Bunuan-Red:
"How do you see the past 20 years?"
In 2006, IMAHE NASYON attempts to answer the question.
That question also became a thematic and uniting thread across the
films, but each film is made of different cinematic genres that is
representative of the filmmaker's style, stressing the concept that in
spite of individual visions we share the same goal: to depict a
truthful image of the nation.
The omnibus project was conceptualized by Jon and Carol in
commemoration of Edsa 1, a political revolution that changed their
generation forever. It is also a celebration of the struggle and
growth of Philippine Independent Cinema which, in essence, is a
cultural revolution only now gaining public acceptance.
A unique and common element in IMAHE NASYON is rising Indie actor PING MEDINA
who is featured in all the 20 films. He represents the next
generation who will play a crucial role in the direction of the nation
and its image.
Imahe Nasyon was directed by Poklong Anading, Emman Dela Cruz, Yeye
Calderon, Neil Daza, Lav Diaz, Tad Ermitaño, Mes de Guzman, Rox Lee,
Topel Lee, Milo Paz, Robert Quebral, Ellen Ramos, Raymond Red, R.A.
Rivera, Lyle Sacris, EJ Salcedo, Sig Sanchez, Dennis Empalmado, Ogi

ROME AND JULIET screening
Rome & Juliet
A different kind of date movie on Valentine's Day!
Seeking to offer diversity in Philippine Cinema, Cinema One Originals treats moviegoers to a different kind of date movie when the digital film, Rome and Juliet opens on February 14 at the IndieSine Theater of Robinsons Galleria Movieworld.
Starring Mylene Dizon and Andrea del Rosario as straight women who plunge into unconventional affairs, this indie gem directed by Connie Macatuno revolves around the idea "Love knows no rules." It traces the unpredictable romantic journey of two women and confronts issues concerning taboo affairs and sexual norms.
When Juliet (del Rosario), a conservative pre-school teacher hires Rome (Dizon), a liberated wedding planner for her nuptials, they become close and develop a romance that becomes a huge scandal after the groom (Rosell) and their families discover their affair. Not long after, Juliet is driven away by her parents and becomes victim of an accident that puts her in a coma. Together, Rome and Juliet face and
withstand the trials that come with their unconventional relationship.
During the 2006 Cinema One Originals Digital Movie Festivals last November, Rome & Juliet brought home the important awards such as Best Production Design for Gerry Santos' wonderful and realistic setting and the Best Actress Award for Mylene Dizon. The film was also selected to have an exhibition at the New York International
Independent Film and Video Festival for this year. It received excellent reviews from the selection panel because of its very good image quality, solid story and believable performances.
Rome & Juliet also stars Rafaell Rosell, Miko Palanca, Lui Villaruz, Joshua Deocareza, Glydel Mercado, CJ Mercado and Tessie Tomas.
Embrace diverse realities. Open your mind. Believe that love knows no restrictions and watch Rome and Juliet opening this Valentine's Day exclusively in Robinsons Galleria IndieSine Theater!
Rome & Juliet is produced by Creative Programs Incorporated thru the Cinema One Originals Digital Movie project.

INDIE SINE 2007

COMPOUND
a Will Fredo film
February 7 to 13,2007
Robinsons Galleria Ortigas
Starring John Arcilla , Janet Russ, Jake Macapagal, and Liza Diño
Joan Palisoc , Perry Escaño, Lily Chu , Marq Dollentes
Music by Bob Aves
Cinematography by Gene Gallardo, PJ Sta. Maria, Will Fredo
Produced by Greg Macaraeg, Medwin Garcia, Joan T. Manalang, George
Sommerrock
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
MTRCB R-18 [Strictly For Adults Only]
What are the critics saying about COMPOUND?
Edward Jordon, V.P. of Acquisitions, Film-Source Co.:
COMPOUND is a complex thriller that brilliantly reinvents itself as
the story unfolds. Just when you think you know where the movie is
going, the writer/director pulls the rug out from under you. This is
definitely a most auspicious debut from Will Fredo. His images will
remain with you for a long time.
Cleveland International Film Festival:
A stunning visual achievement, COMPOUND is a contemporary thriller
that deals with the complexities of love, wealth, and fear. A
perfectly unexpected and well-executed ending make this a film not to
be missed.
Tito Genova Valiente, Business Mirror:
"Compound" is not a film easy to love, and yet it is not a film easy
to hate. One thing is sure: it is not a film that can be dismissed
easily.
...The film allows us a peek into a middle-class paranoia...
There is, perhaps, no other Filipino film that approaches what
Christian Metz, the film semiotician, called the "aggregate, plural
property" of cinema as a medium than this film entitled "Compound.
Paul Daza, Philippine Daily Inquirer:
" MELROSE PLACE " As seen through the unflinching eyes of David Lynch
and Mike de Leon.
The movie's technical aspects, especially the lighting, camerawork,
sound and editing, are first-rate.
Also worthy of mention is the theme song of Bob Aves and Grace Nono,
which underscores the characters' mournful inability to find love and
happiness.
Joe Bilancio, Program Director, Reel Affirmations International Film
Festival:
COMPOUND is an independent gem. Well acted, well directed, and
inventive storytelling. Somehow Fredo and the cast are able to make
the film both plot driven AND character driven, a difficult feat for
any cast and crew.
David Corpuz, Mental Pornography:
While our minds are secured that we already knew the ending, we were
goddamn wrong. We're screwed. The director played with our mind and
he won.
The compound is the microcosm of the world we are living in. In the
compound, it's like every society's issue is present: drug addiction,
terrorism, homosexuality, greed for power and wealth, ignorance .. you
name it, it's in here.
Arcilla and Macapagal are noteworthy in their performances as
Virgilio and Jay, respectively. They deserve acting nominations, or
probably the trophy itself!
Rito Asilo, Philippine Daily Inquirer:
Arcilla and Macapagal are passionate actors with contrasting acting
styles, which work for their respective characters, but Diño and Chu
come up with the most informed performances in the ensemble --
particularly the former, who should get more roles in mainstream features.

BAYANING 3RD WORLD at IndieSine

Special One-Day screening of Mike de Leon's Bayaning 3rd World at IndieSine
Daluyan Awardee Mike de Leon created a masterpiece six long years ago. The few people who have seen it still remember de Leon's post-modern take on a bygone obsession of the centennial fever: the great Filipino hero, Jose Rizal.
Mike de Leon puts his characters, a director (Ricky Davao) and a writer (Cris Villanueva) on the verge of a creating a great Rizal film, on a historical adventure that unravels the various stories, true and false, about the controversial national hero. How you may ask, is it possible to make a compelling film within a film about a textbook case like Jose Rizal? "Bayaning 3rd World" both educates and dazzles under one of the greatest Filipino filmmakers of all time.
The Independent Filmmakers Cooperative (IFC) is proud to present a special ONE-DAY SCREENING of Bayaning 3rd World at IndieSine, Robinsons Galleria on January 25. Bayaning 3rd World will have five screenings on that day.
The IFC is a new organization of filmmakers that provides services to its members—from production to distribution. IFC is mainly a support and network system for indies who need help with their movies. IFC is open to all practicing filmmakers. All film practitioners who have been part of an indie film production are invited to apply.
IndieSine accepts bulk ticket sales and bookings at Robinsons Movieworld Customer Service at 632.9116.

KHAVN'S "SINEMARAHAS" PREMIERES AT GALLERIA
Khavn's latest feature "SINEMARAHAS" will premiere this January 23, Tuesday, 9pm at the INDIE SINE in Robinson's Galleria as part of the BAGONG AGOS FESTIVAL.
"SINEMARAHAS" is a jam-packed peek into Khavn's cosmos of extremity, which ranges from social realism to post-surrealism, unflinchingly depicting ultra-violence in its many forms, beginning with poverty, its "worst form," according to Gandhi.
Khavn is the festival director of .MOV, the first digital film festival in the Philippines. With his digital film production company Filmless Films, he has
directed 16 full-length films and more than 60 short films, several of which have won in the Philippines, Japan, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, and Canada.
